A Bellefonte man has been sentenced to serve 2 to 4 years in state prison after pleading guilty to having a "sexual relationship" with a teenage girl.

Last November, police charged Akile Parker following an investigation into accusations that he had engaged in sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl.

Authorities say they discovered numerous sexually-explicit text messages between Parker and the victim.

Police say the victim's mother allegedly confronted him about the accusations, at which time he denied them.

Authorities say the messages also showed that Parker had allegedly texted the victim and told her to delete any evidence of their relationship, which included sexually explicit photos that the victim had reportedly sent him.

Parker appeared in Centre County court Tuesday where he entered a guilty plea to statutory sexual assault.

He was also sentenced to serve three years of probation as part of the plea deal.
