Cambria County coroner's office gets new safety gear with grant money
The Cambria County Coroner's Office unveiled new gear Wednesday to help keep their staff safe on calls.
Coroner Jeff Lees showcased the five sets of brand-new gear for his office.
The gear cost nearly $10,000 and includes coats, pants, boots and gloves.
Lees says the gear was bought with grant money, meaning there's no cost to taxpayers.
He says his office received the grant for taking time to provide statistical data about deaths to the Department of Health.
Over the past few years, Lees says his office has seen 18 fatal fires and more than 120 deadly crashes.
The new gear was bought from All American Fire Equipment in Ebensburg and Lees says it meets the safety standards set by the National Fire Protection Association.
