Chris McNally Wife/Girlfriend, Is When Calls the Hearts Lucas Married in Real Life?

McNally plays Lucas Bouchard on When Calls the Heart, Hallmark’s popular drama series based on Janette Oke’s novel of the same title from her Canadian West book series. Bouchard was introduced in Season 6 as a businessman who owns the Queen of Hearts saloon and Gowen Petroleum in Hope Valley. His character started dating Elizabeth Thatcher in Season 8 and got engaged to her in Season 9. However, the pair surprisingly broke things off in the Season 10 finale.

In the next episode of WCTH, Season 11, Episode 4, his character will reunite with a mysterious woman, Jeanette Aucoin, from his past, potentially setting up a new love interest for his character. This marks the first time Jeanette will appear in the series in person, though she’s been mentioned in earlier seasons as a troubled figure in his life.

But what about McNally’s relationship in real life? It turns out the actor is dating a fellow Hallmark favorite! He met actress Julie Gonzalo while filming 2018’s The Sweetest Heart, in which the pair played exes who reunited after 14 years apart. “He’s such a wonderful, wonderful person and a terrific actor, so it was very easy with him,” Gonzalo told FanSided ahead of the film’s premiere in March 2018.

Fans were convinced that the pair were dating after the film – and McNally opened up about their relationship in May 2019. In an interview with North Shore News, he explained how he seduced Gonzalo with his dance moves after learning the choreography from Hallmark’s A Winter Princess. “I waltzed her around the living room,” he swooned. “But she’s South American so now she wants me to learn to Salsa.”

In June 2022, the couple announced that they were having their first child together! The pair shared the first photo of their baby in June 2022. Chris spoke about being a dad in a rare interview with Entertainment Tonight in March 2023.

“Fatherhood is fantastic. It’s my favorite job,” he said. “It’s a job I’ve always wanted to do and I’m really, really grateful that right now, at least, I’ve got a wonderful dad job because for When Calls the Heart we film four and a half months, the hours are not crazy, we don’t really have a lot of night shoots so I can be really present with her. And then I get the rest of the year, which is like, it’s just such a blessing. So, since wrapping in mid-November I’ve just been on dad mode and it’s fantastic.”

Since then, the couple starred together in Hallmark’s 2023 film 3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost. In the movie, a ghost (Madeleine Arthur) won’t leave real estate agent Anna (Madeleine Arthur) alone until she helps get Anna back together with her ex (McNally).
