The Colver Power Project in Cambria County, which had been shuttered this past May, has been sold and will bring back 70 full-time jobs, according to a release from Robindale Energy.

Colver Green Energy LLC, a generation company formed by the owners of Robindale will take over operation of the facility, which provides electricity for 130,000 people.

Colver Power Project began operation in 1995 until it was retired in May.

Robindale Energy has also purchased five related mine reclamation sites. Additional fuel will be sourced from Somerset, Clearfield and Indiana counties.

According to the release, Colver Green Energy plans to hire a number of former employees as well as new ones.

“It's almost like rising up out of the ashes, no pun intended,” said Dennis Simmers, compliance manager for Colver Green Energy. “We are very proud of the work we do, We are proud of the restoration that has happened over the past 25 years in our county and surrounding counties.”

Simmers said they hope to be back open in late September or early October.
