Donald Cowboy Cerrone reveals MASSIVE amount of money made in UFC during Hall of Fame speech

Publish date: 2024-06-09

Donald Cerrone never won MMA’s biggest prize, but he’s a very rich man and the newest addition to the UFC Hall of Fame.

‘Cowboy’ suffered a second-round submission loss to Jim Miller at UFC 276 in July 2022 before taking off his gloves and announcing he is done fighting.

The American left MMA’s premier promotion joint second for the most UFC wins in history with 23 and the most UFC finishes with 16 after a ridiculous 38 UFC fights.

Naturally, Cerrone’s induction into the UFC Hall of Fame was announced soon after his retirement and he officially joined the Modern Wing at a ceremony in Las Vegas on Thursday evening.

“Thank you all. I appreciate it,” he said during his induction speech.

“It’s been a wild, wild journey and I feel good. God, I had so much I wanted to say. Oh, wow. Thank you, guys. I appreciate it. I did it for you.”

The 40-year-old finished off his speech by bizarrely revealing exactly how much he made during his lengthy run in MMA’s top league.

“Oh, yeah. $10 million [£7.8 million]. That’s what I made in the UFC,” Cerrone added.

“How about that? $10 million. Not bad for a f***ing blue collar country boy.”

Most notably, Cerrone shared the cage with MMA superstar Conor McGregor in 2020, but he was also involved in a bunch of other high-profile fights during his UFC stint.

Justin Gaethje, Tony Ferguson, Leon Edwards, Darren Till, Robbie Lawler, Jorge Masvidal, Rafael dos Anjos, and Eddie Alvarez are just some of the opponents he faced.

Fans are delighted ‘Cowboy’ was financially rewarded for his efforts and happy that he no longer needs to fight – although he would make a comeback if the money was right.

“You have to come up with a number so big it would just entice me to get off my couch,” Cerrone said.

"I haven’t done a thing since I retired, except for movies, drinking beer, and playing with my kids. I don’t need the money. I’m not itching because I need a couple hundred thousand dollars.

“So, it would have to be such a crazy number, ‘Ah, f*** it. I could use $5 million.’ I’d fight my grandma for $5 million."
