Dogs that look like bears

We don’t like to overuse OMG, but OH-EM-GEE, we can’t believe how cute Chowder the bear dog is. He’s breaking the internet this week, and we can totally understand why — his squishy little face looks exactly like a stuffed animal.

Chowder got us to thinking there must be other pups out there that look like living dolls, and we were right. These adorable teddy-dogs are so cute, we can’t even believe they’re real.

• Chow chow

  

  There's Chowder! Chows are adorably and squishy, but they can be quite reserved around nonfamily members.

• Cockapoo

  

  This breed is a cross of the American or English cocker spaniel with a poodle (typically a miniature or toy).

• Toy poodle

  

  The poodle is a beloved pet favored for its extreme intelligence and naturally striking good looks

• Chinese shar-pei

  

  A breed full of physical quirks — a wide muzzle, a blue-black tongue and, yes, all those snuggly folds of skin.

• Shih tzu

  

  The shih tzu was only recognized by the AKC in 1969, but the breed has been depicted in art as far back as A.D. 624.

• Pomeranian

  

  This lively little fellow is smart, inquisitive and, obviously, adorable beyond description.

• Lhasa apso

  

  These petite pups love to clown around in front of their owners, earning them a reputation as little comedians.

• Cavapoo

  

  The Cavapoo is a cross between the Cavalier King Charles spaniel and the poodle.

• Akita

  

  In Japan, the Akita is so revered that they are one of only seven breeds to be designated a national monument.

• Newfoundland

  

  Newfoundlands — or "Newfies" — boast a super-sweet disposition and are deeply devoted to their families. 

• Samoyed

  

  Can you say polar bear? These fluffy fellows are so friendly, it is often said they appear to be smiling.

• Great Pyrenees

  

  Great Pyrenees are certainly striking and elegant specimens. They are also incredibly intelligent.

• American Eskimo dog

  

  The American Eskimo dog boasts a beautiful white coat and friendly disposition — in a medium size.

• Alaskan malamute

  

  The Alaskan malamute — or Mal, as it's affectionately known — is one of the oldest Arctic sled dogs in existence. 

• Shiba Inu

  

  Shiba Inus are described as having a fox-like appearance, but you've gotta admit they are as cute as teddy bears. 

• Maltese

  

  Ancient Greeks revered Maltese pups so much that they erected tombs in their honor.

• Affenpinscher

  

  Described as "diablotin moustachu" (moustached little devil) in France, this breed has a mischievous spirit.

• Brussels griffon

  

  Griffons demand a ton of affection, so they are best in homes where they'll be the center of attention.

• Pekingese

  

  The Pekingese were bred for many centuries by the imperial family of China to serve as cherished companions.

• Bichon frise

  

  The Bichon frise (pronounced BEE-shon free-ZAY) has a happy-go-lucky disposition and is easy to train.

• Labradoodle

  

  This mixed pup has yet to be recognized as an "official" breed, but they're officially adorable. 

• Golden doodle

  

  This hybrid is part golden retriever and part poodle and is a play on the name "Labradoodle."

• Tibetan mastiff

  

  The Tibetan mastiff is an ancient breed but is not a mastiff at all — it's actually a mountain dog.

• Zuchon

  

  Aptly named the "teddy bear" pup, the zuchon is a cross between a bichon frise and a shih tzu.

• Poochon

  

  The poochon is a designer breed crossed between a bichon frise and a poodle, and oh, that face.

• Japanese Chin

  

  Also called the Japanese spaniel, this little guy has a goofy teddy bear face only a mother could love.

• Pumi

  

  A Pumi is like a cross between a cuddly teddy bear and a floppy-eared bunny. You can't deny the cuteness.
