Far Cry 5 Hard Fishing Spot Locations

Publish date: 2024-05-20

Hard fishing spots are special hunting locations in Far Cry 5. They’re the only places where you can catch record-breaking fish. You’ll need to visit a whole bunch of them in order to break regional records, which is a necessary step in getting the best fishing rod. If you’re having trouble finding them, you should scroll down and check out our Far Cry 5 hard fishing spot locations guide.

In order to beat the region records, you’ll have to visit that region’s headquarters (Fall’s End, Wolf’s Den or Hope County Jail) and check out the fisherman’s noticeboard. The notice boards will list the current records for the area. The left column is the same in all three areas, but you only need to catch each fish from it once.

Where to find hard fishing spots?

Both the Pallid Sturgeon and the Paddlefish Sturgeon can be found in the river in the far southwestern corner of the map, in John’s Region. Just follow the river south of the Lamb of God Church, and you’ll find the former soon enough. The latter is a bit further downstream, past the airstrip.

If you straddle the border between Holland Valley and Henbane River, you can get the Rainbow Trout (at the Bridge of Tears, east of Rae-Rae’s Pumpkin Farm), as well as the Bull Trout (at the wide bend farther south).

Head east into Faith’s region, and you can get the Rock Bass from the river that passes by Hope County Jail. The fishing spot is a few bends before the prison. Going farther east, all the way to the edge of the map, will allow you to catch the Smallmouth Bass – it’s directly east of the Moonflower Trailer Park. Head north up the river, and you’ll soon run into a spot with Largemouth Bass, too.

If you go into the Whitetail Mountains, start your journey from the east. There’s a spot right in front of Fort Drubman where you can catch Golden Trout. If you go into the small bay north of the fort, you can catch Lake Trout. Follow the river as it bends west, and you’ll find a spot with Chinook Salmon north of the FANG Center.

The mountains are home to the last two fish, as well. The Kokanee Salmon can be found in the large lake to the west of FANG Center. If you head south along the western edge of the map, you’ll discover a somewhat hidden lake, which is home to the Arctic Grayling Salmon.
