New Projected CT Snowfall Totals Released: Winter Storm Watch In Effect For Entire State
The watch goes into effect at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 and lasts through 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7. Travel could be very difficult during that time, the National Weather Service is warning.
Much of Connecticut can expect between 8 to 12 inches of snow, the National Weather Service says, with lower amounts along the coast. (See the image above.)
The National Weather Service says that the greatest uncertainty in forecast snowfall amounts farthest south near the coast is due to remaining uncertainty on the exact storm track "and intensification and the location of the rain/snow line within 30 miles.
"A storm track farther offshore and/or stronger will move the rain/snow line southeast, resulting in higher snowfall totals for the city/coast."
Heavy snow is expected at times inland.
