There’s a new system called Emissary in Sea of Thieves. You can become an Emissary to any of the available trading companies in the game. To become an Emissary, you need first to reach level 15 with their trading company, promote yourself three times, and then purchase their flag for 20,000 gold coins. After you’re an Emissary for a trading company, you now have access to increasing your Emissary Grade with them.

Emissary Grade is a way to increase your standing with a trading company at a quicker rate than you normally would. You can see the Emissary Grade meter at the bottom right of your screen. The actions you do in the game need to benefit the company you work for at that time. For example, if you work for the Gold Hoarders, you need to profit them by locating specific treasures chests to place on your ship and complete voyages on their behalf to further increase your Emissary Grade. You lose your Emissary Grade progress if you lower your Emissary flag on your ship or you sink.

Each of the trading companies has different methods available for you to increase your Emissary grade.

Increasing Gold Hoarder Emissary Grade

Increasing Order of Souls Emissary Grade

Increasing Merchant Alliance Emissary Grade

Increasing Athena’s Fortune Emissary Grade

Increasing Repear’s Bones Emissary Grade

As your grade grows, you gain a multiplier bonus. The bonuses give you additional rewards for continually completing tasks for the trading company. The multiplier increases the gold and reputation you receive, providing you with more of an incentive to continue working with them. These are the multipliers for each grade level:

All trading companies need to be wary of players who are Emissaries of The Reaper’s Bones company, as they are out to take out anyone on the high seas. To increase your chances of survival, try working together with other Emissary players to fight them back.
