'Wife' of Moxham homicide victim caught after failing to appear in court

Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities say Lexus Simms, the self-proclaimed "wife" of 41-year-old Marvin Price, who was gunned down in his vehicle last month in the Moxham-section of the city, has been caught.

Officials say the 26-year-old failed to appear in court on Wednesday on charges related to Price's death after police say she allegedly stole the phone of the suspected shooter from the crime scene.

Simms was initially taken into custody earlier this month in Washington D.C. but was then released on unsecured bail.

Police say she faces charges of hindering apprehension and evidence tampering.

On Thursday, Simms was re-apprehended by constables for Magisterial District Judge Kevin Price, after the judge issued a bench warrant for her arrest.

Officials say she will be held at the Cambria County Prison while she awaits her bail hearing that is scheduled for next week.

Police are still searching for Price's alleged killer, 18-year-old Michael Cogdell, of Pittsburgh.

Magisterial District Judge Kevin Price has issued a bench warrant for 26-year-old Lexus Simms after authorities say she failed to appear in Cambria County court Wednesday morning.

Simms is facing charges in relation to the shooting death of 41-year-old Marvin Price last month after police say she allegedly stole the phone of the suspected shooter from the crime scene.

Authorities say Simms was taken into custody in Washington D.C. but reportedly failed to appear in court for her preliminary hearing on charges of hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence.

Investigators say Simms allegedly identified herself to police as Price's "wife."
