The singer and actress Lucía Leticia Méndez Pérez, better known as Lucía Méndez, was born on January 26, 1955 in León, Guanajuato, Mexico. In 1972 she was named “The face of El Heraldo de México”, a title awarded by the newspaper of the same name. From that moment on, she had proposals to venture into the world of soap operas. She debuted alongside Angélica María in Italian Girl Comes to Marry (1972). In 1974 she debuted on the big screen with the film The Son of the People and that same year she participated in two other films Riding the Moon and The Unknown. The following year she played her first important character in the soap opera Paloma alongside Andrés García and Ofelia Medina (1975), her first leading role “Cecilia” came with Mundosoppositos in 1976 and her first great international success in 1978 with Viviana. In 1980 she participated in Colorina , one of the most successful soap operas in history. The Hispanic community of Miami awarded her the “Star” on the “Walk of Fame on 8th Street.” In 1985 she was nominated for an American Grammy in the category “Best Latin Pop Performance.” Among her most recent projects we find The 13 Wives of Wilson Fernández and Como dice el saying .
