Rio de Janeiro (CelebrityAccess) — Pop icon Madonna put the capstone on her ‘Celebrations’ tour with a final performance in front of a record-breaking 1.6 million fans on Rio’s Copacabana Beach.
With the performance at Copacabana Beach, Madonna broke her show attendance record, which according to the Associated Press, she set in 1987 when she performed in front of 130,000 fans at Parc des Sceaux in Paris.
She also set the previous concert attendance record for Copacabana Beach, which was set by the Rolling Stones on February 18, 2006, when they performed in front of an estimated 1.5 million fans.
The fully sold out performance was Madonna’s first in Brazil since 2012 and was broadcast on local television outlets.
The 1.6 million estimate was provided by Rio’s official tourism agency, Riotor.
