Monster truck accidentally pulls down utility pole during show, injuring spectators
TOPSHAM, Maine (WGME) — Several people are hurt after a monster truck accidentally pulled down a utility pole onto some spectators in Maine on Saturday.
Renegade Monster Truck Tour was hosting a show at the Topsham Fairgrounds when police say one of their trucks went off a jump and hit an utility wire that was running above the race track.
The wire got stuck on the truck and pulled down several utility poles, one of which was near the spectator viewing area.
Police say one spectator was hit by that utility pole, one of two people that were brought to the hospital. Several other people were also injured.
Power was shut down throughout much of Topsham so that everyone on scene could be treated and evacuated safely. The crash is under investigation.
WGME reached out to the owner of Renegade Monster Truck Tour for comment but has not heard back.
