P-O moves fifth grade to elementary level; board members resign following vote
PHILIPSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — Fifth-graders at Philipsburg Osceola Middle School are relocating to the district's elementary schools.
The decision was approved during a Tuesday school board meeting at the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District with a 6 to 3 vote, according to Superintendent Dr. Gregg Paladina.
Following the vote, two of the three board members who opposed the motion, Rob Miller and Rob Massung, handed in their resignations, according to Paladina.
Paladina said fifth-graders will be moved to the Philipsburg Elementary and Osceola Mills Elementary schools at the start of the 2020-21 academic year.
Philipsburg Osceola Middle School will hold students in grades six through eight.
