Philipsburg walks off with dramatic first round win
STATE COLLEGE -- The PIAA baseball and softball tournaments started Monday with first round games at neutral sites. In a Class AA showdown, the Philipsburg-Osceola softball team rallied to beat Steel Valley 6-5 in 8 innings.
Trailing in the seventh inning, Haylee Hayward and Chelsey Henry hit back-to-back homers to tie the game.
Then in the eighth, Hayward delivered again with a walk-off hit to deep center, bringing in the winning run.
The state quarterfinals will be played Thursday.
