Katie Holmes' Unique Tie to the College Suri Cruise Is Going to

So, it seems Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter Suri Cruise is headed to Pittsburgh for her collegiate career (and it’s at a school her mother filmed at)!

In case you missed it, Suri’s school shared a super-sweet TikTok about what colleges their graduating seniors will be attending, honoring a tradition called “decision day” (also known as “sweatshirt day”). For this day, seniors wore sweatshirts celebrating what school they’ll go to in the fall, and per People, Suri was seen in the video rocking a Carnegie Mellon University sweatshirt. It’s unclear what major she’s decided on with the esteemed university, but here’s what we know. Per US News, Carnegie Mellon has an acceptance rate of a little over 11 percent, making it a rather hard school to get into, and it’s ranked #24 in National Universities.

Per a previous report from DailyMail, Suri has allegedly considered majoring in either music or fashion when she enters college. But how are Carnegie Mellon’s programs?

According to College Factual, Carnegie Mellon is ranked #14 for music, meaning its music department is in the top 5 percent of the country. But what about fashion? The university is one of the top design schools in the United States, including with its fashion program. So either way, if she chooses one of these majors or something else entirely, Suri will definitely be in good hands.

Now, along with its prestige and amazing programs, Suri has a unique tie to the school. Her mother Holmes actually filmed a movie there. For the 2000 film Wonder Boys, they had to film quite a few scenes at Carnegie Mellon University. Talk about a full-circle moment! For those who don’t know, Holmes and Tom started dating in early 2005, and within a year, they welcomed their daughter Suri Cruise on April 2006 (and married seven months later). Later, Holmes filed for divorce from Tom in 2012, and has continued to raise Suri to be one of the coolest celebrity kiddos.

As many know, Suri recently turned 18, and she’s showing off her acting chops, musical chops, and her fashion sense. Throughout her life, she’s taken ballet lessons, guitar lessons, singing, and acting lessons, all or most of which we’re sure she’ll continue at Carnegie Mellon.
