The Young And The Restless Weekly Blog!
Monopoly in Japan.
Aren't there other cosmetics lines in the world that would have questioned Beauty of Nature from Wisconsin having a monopoly in Japan before now? If Tucker bests Victor Newman for a change, I'll overlook the story flaws, except for how they've turned sharp-as-a-tack Jill into a businesswoman so inept she gets caught and fired by Billy - disappointing.
Drugs In My Pocket.
So, Ronan thinks Chance is brilliant because he duped them and landed himself in jail. Does anyone care? I've lost what little interest I did have in Chance and Heather's drama - done. However, I did laugh at the preview for Monday's show, with Chance in the slammer appealing to a couple of thugs to 'hook him up' - hilarious!
Passes Inspection!
Wednesday's show brought fantastic comic relief with crisis after crisis at Gloworm! How great was it to see Jeffrey in rubber gloves holding a toilet plunger as Gloria lamented her manicure and cried off her mascara. Those two can be such a hoot!
All Sorts of Wrong Make a Right!
The grand opening of Gloworm was all I could have hoped for! As a huge fan of gatherings that bring a variety of characters into the same orbit, I relished every confrontation and unlikely scenario. From Victor conducting business talk out behind the dumpster, to Paul grinning at Abby's gyrations in the champagne glass, to the cops busting the joint, it was delicious from beginning to end! The serious exchanges were good too, like Billy and Vikki's fight, Ashley and Adam coming face-to-face, and Jana and Kevin having it out. Gloria was lit up like Jack's Christmas tree, and Jeffrey was at his chuckling, bawdy best behind the bar - perfection!
The Kiss.
No, not that one, I mean the one between Christine and Paul - where did that come from?! Naturally, Nina decided to show up just in time to witness it - yeeps - this will feed all her insecurities. I wonder if the fallout will be explosive or quietly hurt. If you missed it, check out Soaps.com's Interview with Lauralee Bell!
The Kiss Part II.
Yes, that one! Intense is the only word for that unexpected kiss between Sharon and Adam. Call me Dust Bunny, because I got sucked right in. The writers actually did a great job with this; never losing the undercurrent of Sharon and Adam being ever aware of one another's presence at the party through the brief encounters, the confrontations, the advice from Nick, Victor, and Skye (how delusional is this woman?)...culminating with the encounter at the end. Of course, it's unthinkable that Sharon could reconcile with Adam, but the chemistry between these two is undeniable. What did you think? Let us know by voting in Soaps.com's Shadam's Kiss Snap Poll!

Restless Rant
Week of August 2 – 6:
There was plenty to talk about on the past week of The Young and the Restless. The ranting (and raves) start now!
Work Permit.
So now we know how they are going to address Cane’s little immigration problem – won’t Neil just LOVE that his favorite people, Malcolm and Sofia rode to the rescue! Mal’s proposal re-do was a nice bit of romance. By the way, Daniel Goddard (Cane) was bang on when he told me they got the casting of the babies right – great job!
I Love You.
I’m wondering how viewers feel about Mac and JT’s love story. I find I’m really drawn into their romantic moments, but expect to be bored by them in short order.
Fighting Fenmores.
While I love the acting we’re seeing from Tracey Bregman (Lauren) and Jess Walton (Jill), one staged fight after another is getting old. Speaking of which, how did Jill emerge from that fall on her back into the empty grave unscathed? On another note, I can’t decide if I like the way Michael is calling Lauren out on her behavior – he’s coming across a little bit like a dad.
Christmas in August.
The Jack and Emily storyline flop was no gift to viewers. With the announcement that Maura West is joining Y&R as a recast Diane Jenkins this week, it made me wonder if this is why Emily’s romance with Jack ended without a viable explanation. Wouldn’t it be great to have Emily return at some point and go head-to-head with Diane over Jack! I’m excited about the very talented Maura West joining the show, and hoping this will be a good fit for her.
Jack and Mary Jane!
The South American send-off for Patty was perfect! Loved the kitty cat tattoo! All I can say is, “Hasta La Vista, Alejandro!”
You Did This!
While Michelle Stafford’s acting was brilliant this week as always, I feel as though the change in Phyllis has been a tad abrupt, and this was reflected in her last exchange with Nick – I was a bit confused.
The Return of Jana.
I’ve been irritated by so much in this storyline. They told us Jana is unable to feel emotion, yet since she left the hospital we’ve seen her feel compassion, anger, sadness, happiness (or contentment), guilt, and now jealousy – everything except love for Kevin – absurd – and now she’s behaving like a stalker! The one thing that works is Chloe and Kevin’s mutual support system; it’s gold to find such amazing friendship chemistry.
