Touring Country Trio Doing Big Box Office
NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The year is off to a good start for George Strait. After his most recent release, an album of holiday music going platinum (his 32nd to date), his cross-country tour with Ronnie Milsap and 17-year-old Taylor Swift has been standing room only.
Having already sold out at Lafayette and Shreveport, La., Hershey, Pa., Charlottesville, Va. (setting a new house record), Greensboro, N.C., Boise, Idaho, Las Cruces, N.M. and Phoenix, the tour is looking likely to do the same at upcoming stops, include Hoffman Estates (Chicago), Charleston, S.C., Uncasville, C.T., Denver and Kansas City. Strait holds more than 20 attendance records at venues from coast to coast.
The tour has been a hit with the press too. In its review of the tour opener, the Daily Advertiser of Lafayette said Strait is the "true thing" and noted that Swift and Milsap "delighted a sold-out Acadiana crowd." The Shreveport Times reported that "Strait, a County Music Hall of Famer, thrilled a sold-out crowd at CenturyTel Center in Bossier City. And he did it in the signature fashion of his 25-year career, standing behind a microphone and singing his favorite songs,"
It's not all about Strait though. The Grammy-award winning Milsap has demonstrated the talent that makes him a crowd favorite and young Taylor Swift, touring in support of her debut album has been very well-received. Her album has hit gold and has been charting top 40, which makes her, along with Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood one of only three country artists in the all-genre top 40 listing. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
