Tracking Device Foils Hoboken Bank Robber
Hoboken police allege Jamil Deacon, a Hoboken resident, passed a note to bank tellers at the Santander Bank demanding $40,000 be handed to him and verbally threatened to shoot them if they did not comply. The suspect made off with $1,100, police said.
The money was equipped with a tracking device, allowing police to quickly track down Deacon at Second and Bloomfield Streets, where he was promptly apprehended, police said.
Aside from the robbery charge, Deacon was charged with making terroristic threats and hindering and tampering with evidence. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
