Xfinity Mobile's Unlimited Plans Just Got Cheaper

Publish date: 2024-04-20

Xfinity Mobile is simplifying and reducing the prices of its unlimited data plans. Customers may now choose between Unlimited and Unlimited Plus, with single-line pricing at $40 and $50, respectively.

The cheaper Unlimited plan is pretty attractive. It starts at $40 but falls to just $25 per line with four lines. You also get 5G connectivity and unlimited low-speed mobile hotspot data. However, video streaming on this plan is locked at 480p (over a mobile connection), and you only get 30GB of full-speed data each month.

Things are a lot better on the Unlimited Plus plan, which starts at $50 but gets as low as $35 per line. Unlimited Plus delivers 720p mobile video streaming, 50GB of full-speed monthly data, and up to 15GB of high-speed hotspot data.

Before this change, Xfinity Mobile offered three unlimited data plans—Unlimited Intro, Unlimited Plus, and Unlimited Premium. These plans started at $45, $55, and $65 for single-line service, meaning that current subscribers will save anywhere between $5 and $15 per line as they transition to the revised unlimited plans.

Note that Xfinity Mobile is an MVNO. It's affordable because it imposes some service restrictions and piggybacks off Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T spectrum. Other MVNOs, such as Mint Mobile, Visible, and Cricket Wireless, also undercut the "big three" carriers and restrict high-speed data or place limits on video streaming quality.

Xfinity Mobile isn't the cheapest MVNO. Other options, such as the aforementioned Visible and Mint Mobile, are about $10 cheaper per line. However, Xfinity Mobile may be the most cost-effective option if you bundle it with Xfinity internet or television service. You can get 300 Mbps internet service for $25 with a $40 Xfinity Mobile Unlimited plan, for example. Other ISPs that sell phone service, such as Spectrum, offer similar bundles.

Now's a good time to mention that Xfinity has upgraded its broadband internet speeds for low-cost plans. The upgraded speeds, while generous, appear to be a response to new FCC rules.

You can join Xfinity Mobile from the Xfinity website. If you're interested in joining a bundled plan, check the Xfinity Deals page, which also allows you to build a custom bundle.
