Genetic makeup and possibly following a special diet saw Ming grow relatively rapidly compared to ordinary children. In fact, at the age of 9, doctors who were amazed at his height predicted that he would reach 7 feet 3 inches (220 cm) at his peak. However, he exceeded their expectations and reached a height of 7 feet 6 inches (229 cm).
